Teaching
As an educator, my pedagogical approach is based on critical pedagogy and inclusive teaching principles. Through this lens, I believe in an open and honest two-way dialogue between teacher and learner where we all can learn from one another. Also, in a praxis of reflecting and acting on theories that help us identify and examine our beliefs, prior knowledge, and how we develop new knowledge.
In 2023-24 school year I worked as a thesis advisor, teaching assistant, and program support for a new urban and environmental studies department at the University of Chicago.
Previously, I was the instructor of record for Writing in the Discipline of Geography (GES 250) at Northeastern Illinois University (Spring 2016). I have served as a teaching assistant for Introduction to Geography (GEOG/US 100) at UIC (Spring 2022) and have taught workshops on urban planning, college-level teaching, and research methods at UIC and DePaul University.
